The LIFEPHARM Centre was established in 2010 with the aim to strengthen research and education within in vivo pharmacology and toxicology and to increase the output of skilled and competitive PhD candidates in this field.
LIFEPHARM has been extended with a new 5 years period from 2016 – 2020. The extension is funded by Novo Nordisk (41 mill) and KU-SUND (20,5 mill). The extension covers 1 Professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, 6 Post docs as well as 15 PhD fellowships at a high international level within this field.
The extension is an expression of the continuously demand for young scientist from both the academic and the biotech and pharmaceutical industry in Denmark, which in these years’ experience a significant and increasing problem of finding qualified, young Danish researchers with expertise in animal models.
The original LIFEPHARM Centre grant was funded by Novo Nordisk (45 mill) and KU-SUND (23 mill) over a 5 years period (2010 - 2015) and in 2012, the activities of the Centre was extended with a total of 9,5 mill with KU-SUND covering 1/3 and Novo Nordisk 2/3 of the budget.
The outcome of the first phase has been the startup of 29 PhD fellows and 6 post docs as well as a 5 years PMSO position, all working within In Vivo Pharmacology and Toxicology.
